The field experience is one of the most important student experiences in their social work education as it ties together the content from previous courses at both a micro and macro level. It is said that this is where the real learning occurs. EPAS elevated the importance of the field experience by designating it as the signature pedagogy of social work and set forth clear competencies that should be achieved. The difficulty with this course is that there are three primary parties involved: the field instructor, the field director and the student. <em>Finding Your Way Through Field Work: A Social Work Student's Guide</em> is a proposal for a student text and coordinated instructor's manual. The field instructor manual will contain a conceptual framework for building a field education program and will contain illustrative materials to show application. It will contain practice illustrations, example from field programs, guidelines and illustrations. The student manual will serve as a workbook style format to help students review key skills and reinforce their field learning experience.
